Strawn defeats Follett in the 2008 State Sixman Division I Championship Saturday night at Lowery Field in Lubbock Texas. Both teams obviously came to play until the final buzzer sounded on a crisp and blustery night in West Texas. Some may say that Follett's athletes were underrated based on the first meeting earlier in the season against the Hounds. In the end, Strawn's tenacious defense and lightning fast offense arose the victors at the final buzzer. Even though Strawn led throughout the game, Follett never let the points break their spirit. Both teams deserved being at the state match-up in Lubbock. Some of Follett's players were gracious enough to meander through a sea of Strawn fans on the field after the game to congratulate the Hounds on a well deserved win. ....................................................................................... We want a STATE TITLE for Christmas,
Only a STATE ring will do,
Don't want licorice or no dinky 2nd place title it's true,
We want a STATE TITLE, to remember and enjoy.
We want a SIXMAN STATE RING for Christmas,
We don't think Santa Claus will have a problem with that,
do you?
He won't have to lug any toys to our houses,
Just bring us a STATE RING to glimmer on top of
our trees,
Santa just swing in and make a delivery with ease.
We can see the STRAWN GREYHOUNDS now on
Christmas morning,
Barreling down the stairs,
Oh what excitement and surprise,
When we open our eyes,
To see a golden, shiny, STATE RING a top our trees.
Our opponents said that a STATE TITLE would make us vain,
but our fans and coaches said that a STATE TITLE is
rightfully ours, for all our hard work and preparation.
And there's lots of room on our finger for a shiny piece of bling,
We'd shine it, polish it, and care for it like a king.
